The Walgreens Deal 8/29/08 & 8/30/08 - this one is killer!

I am so excited about Walgreens right now! I posted the other day about the very cool Walgreens overlappers this month but - WOOHOO! Walgreens put out a $10 off $40 order coupon yesterday that is making today and tomorrow super great deal days at Walgreens.

Let me explain.

First, go here to print off your $10 off $40 order coupon. Walgreens is quite happy to have us share these coupon links so don't feel like you are doing anything wrong. This coupon, along with the overlap deal ideas below are only good today and tomorrow (August 29 and August 30, 2008). The rebate items on their own are good through the month of September.

Then, pick up one of each of these, there is a limit of one per houshold as far as I know (all of the following are free after Walgreens easy rebates).
  • 20 pack Excederine Express Gels $3.99 (edit: in the Easy Saver book it says that this product isn't available until September 7th. My Walgreens didn't even have it in stock.)
  • 16.9 oz Nivea Men's Body Wash $4.99
  • 1 oz L'Oreal Revitalift Antiwrinkle Concentrate $16.49
  • 4.2 oz Crest Prohealth Toothpaste $3.79
  • 12 oz Chemistry Haircare $7.99
  • 1 oz LypSyl LypMoisturizer $1.99
  • Revlon nail color or nail care $4.79
  • Walgreens acid controlling chewables (25 count) $7.99
  • Walgreens pitcher filter cartridges $6.99

The total of these items is $59.01. There are coupons to be used on these, too.

  • Chemistry Haircare (pg 12 August Easy Saver) $3 off 1
  • Revlon Nail Color (8/24 Sunday paper) $2 off 1
  • Crest Pro Health (August paper) $.75 off 1
  • Nivea Men's Body Wash (July paper) $1 off 1

This will bring your total down to $52.26. Plus, you will still get your full $59.01 in Easy Rebates! If you have all the above coupons you just made an easy $6.75 AND you got all the items above for free after rebate!

To add to this good deal...

Garnier Fructis Hair Care products are buy $20 get a $10 rebate. Here is the deal idea.

Buy 6 Garnier Fructis items for around $3.99 each (price may vary slightly in your store) for a total of $23.94. Use the $1 off coupon from page 12 of the August Easy Saver catalog - it should work for all 6 items (only today and tomorrow). In a recent paper there were more coupons for $1 off 1 and I have 2 of them. Most Walgreens, if not all of them, will let you stack these with their coupons. That is a total of 8 $1 off coupons bringing my total down to $15.94. After the $10 rebate this brings my total down to $5.94 (less than $1 a bottle).

Also, if you have this option available to you (I don't) Money Saving Mom added that there are hang tags at The Dollar General for $2 off 1 Garnier Fructis haircare. This could end up making your deal free.

For our family we will be getting all conditioner. I prefer not to pay for shampoo and can usually get the cheap stuff for free but both my daughter and I are particular about conditioner and like to have the better brands to use on our hair. Less than $1 a bottle is pretty good in my estimation

So after today, the coupons I have (I don't have all the ones I listed above) My totals will look like this.

Before coupons and rebates: $82.95
After coupons:$61.95
After rebates: - $7.06!!!!! - Yes, I just made $7 and got all the above items FREE!

Walgreens Easy Rebates really are easy. Rebates don't get easier. Here is a quick rundown of how easy they are.

  1. Buy free after rebate items at Walgreens and keep your receipt. Your rebate info will not show up on your receipt but you need the receipt number off of it to submit your rebates.
  2. When you are done for the month go to Walgreens.com and create an account. Then, go back to the Walgreens.com home page and look for the Easy Saver catalog 'view current offers' link in the middle of the page and click on it. Then click on 'submit rebates' and log in.
  3. Follow the direction for submitting your rebates. Although you can add receipts any time you want you may only submit them as one batch. Be careful not to submit them until you have completed that months rebate shopping.
  4. Choose either the check or gift card option. I do the gift card option because they give me 10% back on every rebate - I make money on it. Then, after you receive your gift card in the mail you can choose to have all your rebates just added to that card month after month. This is much faster than waiting for your check in the mail.
  5. Be patient. Your card or check will take about 6 weeks to process and get to you. After that, if you chose the card option your rebates will be put directly onto your card after about 2 or 3 weeks. Each month you just use the rebate money on the card to do more free after rebate things. The money on your card with grow and you may not ever have to shell out money for rebate freebies again!

**Remember - rebates do expire month after month. Pay attention to your rebates expiration dates so you don't overlook and forget about them!

Tip*** pick up a few Easy Saver Catalogs (different from weekly circulars). You'll want the coupons throughout the month - Walgreens sales change every week and often the coupons in the Easy Saver catalog will match up nicely with a sale sometime in the month.
