Walgreen - Rebate How To...

Walgreens is not nearly as complicated as CVS in my opinion. Actually, it is really easy if you just pay attention. Walgreens requires no special card though you may find things easier if you sign up for an online account - I'll explain why below. Walgreens sends out coupons via email on occasion, too.

Here is a quick rundown to get you started.

  1. Walgreens has monthly 'free after rebate' deals in their Easy Saver Catalogs - free and found by the front door of Walgreens stores. These are different than the weekly circulars and have a list of rebate items somewhere in the center of the booklet with descriptions of each in the back.
  2. Buy free after rebate items found in the catalog at Walgreens and keep your receipt. Your rebate info will not show up on your receipt but you need the receipt number off of it to submit your rebates.
  3. When you are done for the month go to Walgreens.com and create an account. Then, go back to the Walgreens.com home page and look for the Easy Saver catalog 'view current offers' link in the middle of the page and click on it. Then click on 'submit rebates' and log in.
  4. Follow the direction for submitting your rebates. Although you can add and save receipts any time you want you may only submit them as one batch. Be careful not to submit them until you have completed that months rebate shopping.
  5. Choose either the check or gift card option. I do the gift card option because they give me 10% back on every rebate - I make money on it. Then, after you receive your gift card in the mail you can choose to have all your rebates just added to that card month after month. This is much faster than waiting for your check in the mail.
  6. Be patient. Your card or check will take about 6 weeks to process and get to you. After that, if you chose the card option your rebates will be put directly onto your card after about 2 or 3 weeks. Each month you just use the rebate money on the card to do more free after rebate things. The money on your card will grow and you may not ever have to shell out money for rebate freebies again!

Tip*** If you aren't sure about something or things don't seem to be marked correctly always ask the cashier BEFORE you make the purchase. It is disappointing to expect a rebate and then find out that you aren't getting one.

Tip*** When you pay for your free after rebate offers and look at your receipt don't freak out. My receipt didn't show any rebate information. This is okay because all you need is a number off your receipt to get your rebates.

Tip*** Pick up a few Easy Saver Catalogs (different from weekly circulars). You'll want the coupons throughout the month - Walgreens sales change every week and often the coupons in the Easy Saver catalog will match up nicely with a sale sometime in the month.

Still confused? Feel free to comment or email me with any questions.

I've never had a problem entering more receipts at Walgreens.com. In fact, unless I only have one for a month period, I add them as I get them. Always works for me!

Hmm...
Maybe I did something wrong.
This is the message I get:

"This month has been submitted for processing because you claimed your rebates before the end of the redemption period."

Do you know why it would tell me that?

Thanks for your input. It would be nice if I could, in fact, enter another rebate. That would be totally sweet!

Yes... there is an option to "save and return" or some similar wording. Just make sure you don't continue to the final step instead. You'll get the hang of it!

I am glad to read that you think Walgreens is worth the effort because we don't have a CVS and I read about the deals there and think I'm somehow not getting the best deals I can at Walgreens, even though I tend to end up with a lot of free stuff. And we do get treats for less than a dollar at least, so that's fun. And the 5 cent mechanical pencils last week were terrific!

Sorry, I didn't see a rebate button once I registered...

The Growing Tree -
After you register at Walgreens.com you'll need to go back to their homepage. There you will see a little blurb about Easy Saver Catalog and right under that is a little oval with the word 'rebate' in it. Click 'check rebate status' and it will take you to your login. That should get you where you need to be.
When I first did it I had such a hard time finding out where I needed to go.
Hope this helps!
