Publix this week - 9/17/08

We went to Publix yesterday, September 17th. I ended up spending around $26 - eeek! But we got a lot of stuff we needed and still managed to stay under our $60 weekly grocery budget for all our groceries at Publix, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart combined.

Even though I spent more than I like to (I usually stay under $20 for regular groceries) we found some really good deals we couldn't pass up.
  • Pompeian Olive Oil (32oz) was buy 1 get 1 free at $11.99. We love olive oil and would use it all the time but it is so expensive. When I found these $1 off 1 coupons here I figured $9.99 for two big bottles was a good enough deal to make the purchase.
  • Cat Food, Publix brand is around $2.50. We usually feed Wazzu Science Diet but it is so expensive we decided to see how he would do on the Publix brand. If he doesn't do well I guess we will go back to Science Diet.
  • Publix brand salad bags were 2 for $2.89. We bought four.
  • Crystal Light drink mix was buy 1 get 1 free. I used my last buy 3 Kraft get Crystal Light free coupon from the August All You magazine to get two of these drink mixes for free.
  • 3 Kool-Aids at $.20 each. These are a Kraft product and got me the Crystal Lights for free. Read these posts to get great uses for Kool-Aid.
  • Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks are 2 for $2.81. There is a $.75 off 2 coupon here making these just $1.03 a box. (I didn't buy these but would have if not for the Olive Oil deal)
  • Vlasic Pickles are buy 1 get 1 free at $2.79. There are $1 off 1 coupons here making these $.40 a piece.
  • Duncun Hines Cake mixes are buy 1 get 1 free at $1.99. I found a $1 off 2 coupon (can't remember where) to make these just $.50 each. We love the strawberry kind.
  • Mayonnaise - no sale, no coupons - we bought the cheap jar for $2 something. I was worried it would taste like shaving cream but actually tastes like mayonnaise.
  • Land O Lakes butter is 2 for $2.09. I had two coupons from recent Sunday inserts for $.55 off 1 to make these only $.50 each.

I don't have a picture - I was so hungry when I got home that I just put all the groceries away and ate. However, for what we got the price wasn't bad at all.
