FREE Cereal Voucher Giveaway

UPDATE: The Winner Is Elissa!
Elissa, I don't have your email so please contact me with your address here.

I ran across a coupon for a free box of General Mills Cocoa Puffs Combos cereal tonight. It is an unclaimed leftover from a previous giveaway on my other blog that I hosted many months ago. So, I thought I would give it away to one of my readers here.

When I first hosted the giveaway I gave a complete review of the product. I am just going to copy and paste a bit of that here so that you have an idea of what my family thought of this new cereal.

Cocoa Puffs Combos are one of the newest cereals out and they. are. good.
My 6 children and I tried them over the weekend and we ate almost two boxes of them!
As you can probably tell from the box Cocoa Puffs Combos look quite similar to Cocoa Puffs. That is because they are. The same little bird, Sonny, is on the front and the box is brown, too. Traditional Cocoa Puffs are round balls of puffed corn that have a sweet, somewhat chocolaty cocoa flavor. Cocoa Puffs Combos are a little different. Added in with those same round dark brown puffs are round yellowish puffs with a definite vanilla flavor.
My kids and I poured our bowls and added the milk. We had just grocery shopped the day before and a couple of them really wanted to eat a different cereal I had picked up but they settled for the Combos without complaint. After the first bite, however, they were all about this new cereal and wanted more. My 3 year old even asked for it for lunch and dinner - both to which I said 'no'.
After we all ate some I asked what they liked about the Cocoa Puffs Combos. Here are the pros they gave me along with some of my thoughts.
  • They stayed crunchy through the entire breakfast where many cereals go soggy by the end.
  • They were sweet and the vanilla flavor was very good.
  • Although the box looks small there is a lot of cereal in it.
  • Even though they look a lot like Cocoa Puffs they have a very different taste.
  • They make excellent snacks - just grab a handful and go.
  • The baby, 15 months, couldn't really voice his opinion but he was extremely excited about these combos. I tried to get it on video because it was very funny but you know how kids are - as soon as you turn on the camera they always stop doing whatever it is you were trying to record.

There are a few cons but not many. These are my personal cons - not my childrens'.

  • Even though General Mills has tried over the years to make their cereals more healthy, the added sugar in these Combos means they aren't all that good for you.
  • They were hard to come by. We had to stop at a lot of stores before we found them.
  • The box of Cocoa Puffs and the box of Cocoa Puffs Combos looked very similar making it hard for me to spot them on Winn-Dixie's vast cereal isle.
  • The vanilla flavor totally over-rides the cocoa flavor. This isn't exactly a con for me, I love the vanilla flavor, but some people might be a tad disappointed.
Retail value of this coupon is up to $5.33. It expires on December 28th, 2009 so you will have plenty of time to use it.

I am going to run this giveaway for a week and then randomly choose one winner. If you want to enter please follow the directions below by Wednesday 11/19/08. This giveaway is open to anybody in the USA.

Right now I am eating Malt-o-meal cereals. They seem to be the best all around bargain. With the $1 Kellogg's Q's I will be stocking up on some others. I just got a sample of the Bear Naked granola in the mail today. Can't wait to try it.

I love fruity pebbles and for some odd reason I liked them soggy (I hate soggy cereal now)... but when I was little I would wait for it to get soggy before I would eat it!

When I was in elementary school, I remember one morning when my younger sister (a toddler) fell into the coffee table and split her forehead open. Since my parents had to take her to the hospital for stitches, I was sent to a neighbor's home, where their children were eating a cereal I'd never tried. It was Cap,n Crunch and I just loved it. It has remained a favorite treat of mine (and my children.)

Since my kiddos favorite cereal is Cocoa Puffs, I'm sure they'd LOVE this new one.

I remember, sitting in my bedroom, training my dog tricks by using a box of captain crunch. She learned a lot of tricks. :)

I remember eating Body Buddies a lot! They are called Kix now. I still like them, but my favorite would have to be granola.

I always loved to find the surprises in cereal when I was young, so I try not to be mad when my son does the same thing!
