$4.99 Brita Pitchers!

Brita Slim pitchers (40oz) are on sale at Kmart for $9.99. There is a $5 off 1 coupon at Brita.com when you make the 'green' pledge to use fewer water bottles making these pitchers only $4.99. This is the same price, if not cheaper, than 1 replacement filter.

I just went and bought two (you can use your back button to print 2 coupons - you may have to hit 'back' a few times to get back to the coupon) and they only had a few left on the very top shelf in the back right hand corner of my local Kmart (Milton, FL). This deal is good through Saturday but I have a feeling the product won't be on the shelf that long.

Kmart - a weird week of good deals

A few things to note -

Kmart advertised that their Airwick Freshmatics are on sale this week for $6 each. My daughter and I love these and had a few coupons for $4 off 1 coupons so we made our way over their yesterday to get some for $2 each. Surprise to me that the Lysol Nutra-airs were on sale for $6 as well! These are identical to the Airwick brand and I have a few $5 off 1 coupons for them making them only $1 a piece after coupons! I will be going back very soon with coupons-in-hand to pick them up.

Also, a great many Kmarts across the country are still doubling coupons! From the 1st to the 5th of October participating Kmarts are doubling coupons up to and including $2. Internet coupons are not accepted for this deal. You cannot use more than 4 like coupons in one transaction or 75 coupons a day.

So, there you have it! If you don't know if your Kmart is participating in the doubling this week then be sure to call them and ask before you go in. You can also call corperate at 1-866-562-7848 with questions.

My Kmart Trip 9/22/08

Double Coupon week at Kmart has started off quite nicely! Today I got a bunch of high-priced items we regularly use for a steal.
Usually my totals are a bit more impressive but given that cat food, litter, hair color, cleaners, deodorants, and razors are not usually cheap, I did very well.

Here's the picture.

3 Bic Soleil 4-pack disposable razors
3 Tylenols (free after coupons)
3 Garnier Nutrisse Hair Colors
2 Sure Deodorants
3 Whiskas Cat Treats (free after coupons)
2 Resolve Carpet Cleaners
2 Bags Good Life Catfood
4 2000 Flushes
1 10lb cat litter bag
2 20lb cat litter bags
2 Trident Splash Gum packs

My total before coupons was $104.67
My total after coupons was...

$20.50 (this includes tax)

Many other items that I could have gotten for free with my coupons were out of stock. The cashier said they would restock tonight and to show up early tomorrow morning to partake in the goodies because they run out of stuff quite fast.
Also, reviewing my receipt showed me that two of my coupons didn't double. I don't know what two products they were for but two didn't go through. Not sure what was up there but I may ask them tomorrow if I can't figure it out myself.

It was a good day for coupon doubling. I am pleased.

Oh, and they overcharged me on the Garnier Hair Color by $1.99 a box on all 3 boxes. I went back in and they cheerfully refunded me the $5.97. I was sure they would have taken the sale signs down from the shelf before I got there, which they had. They told me it was an old sale that mistakenly got left up but they still refunded me because it was what was marked on the shelf when I made my purchase. I was pleasantly surprised - our Kmart has always irked me. Today, however, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful and very congratulatory about my coupon discounts!
In the end, after coupons the hair color only cost me $1 a box!

Three cheers for Kmart!

The double coupon promo is going on through this Saturday (9/27/08). Read more about this very cool sale here. I have some of the rules listed, too.

Kmart - Double Coupon Week!

Kmart is not my favorite store. I know many Kmarts are clean with knowledgable, helpful employees but mine is not.
Still, they have done a good job luring me in this week with their Super Double Coupon Week.

Participating Kmarts across the country are offering to double our manufacturer's coupons this week, 9/21/08 through 9/27/08, up to and including $2!

There are rules to this promotion, like:
  • The amount of the doubled coupon cannot exceed the retail price of the item.
  • You can only double one coupon per item. I guess this means that if you have a store coupon and a manufacturers coupon you can only have one doubled.
  • You may only purchase 4 of the same item using doubled coupons.
  • There is a limit of 75 coupons per customer per day.
  • Internet coupons are not valid for this offer.
  • Not valid on Lands' End or Sears merchandise (there are sears/K-Mart combo stores out there I guess).
  • Returns will be refunded less coupon savings.

The rules are a bit limiting but the savvy couponer is sure to find some excellent deals this week. I know I will be heading over a few times this week to search out the good deals in my Kmart store.

Let me know what deals you find!

***To find out if your store is participating go here. Then at the bottom of the screen find the Kmart deals section and click on weekly ad. It will prompt you to select your location. When you see the ads look at the back page of the Batman ad. If you see the red rectangle saying "Super Double" at the bottom of that page then you have a participating store.

Today's Grocery Run

I went grocery shopping today trying to hit all 5 of my stores in one morning. I didn't get to all of them, I will have to go back to Walmart and CVS tomorrow, but I did get to Walgreens, Publix, and Kmart and had absolutely zero coupon issues!
At 3 stores I got:
  • 4 boxes of cereal
  • 6 stoneware bowls for the benevolence shelf
  • 7 juices (only meant to get 6 - guess my counting skills need a little help)
  • 6 Jellos
  • 2 marinades
  • 1 salad dressing
  • 1 12 oz Kraft Cheese singles
  • 2 Oscar Meyer hot dogs
  • 5 laundry detergents
  • 6 jars of peanut butter
  • 3 blueberry muffin mixes
  • 15 Kool-Aids
  • 3 toothbrushes
  • 4 Preparation H wipe packs
  • 4 cake mixes
  • 6 10 packs of mechanical pencils
  • 1 can Crystal Light mix
  • 1 box Wheat Thins crackers

Before sales and coupons: $160.21
After store sales: $98.87
After coupons: $49.73

Plus I got a $4 register reward at Walgreens to use on my next purchase! Other than the drink mixes and wipes everything on the list was something we would use. The wipes were free (actually I 'made' money on them) and the drink mixes were part of a deal that allowed me to get 5 other items for free.

This was my first trying my hand at larger deal ideas. I am quite pleased with my success and look forward to getting even better as time goes by. In a very short period of time we have stock piled laundry detergent (8 bottles!), tooth brushes (12), and a few tubes of toothpaste. I have more pens and mechanical pencils than our homeschool can use in a year, and my kids are good on soap for a while. My face will be clean and youthful looking for at least another year, too. Oh, and all the free makeup...

These are just a few of the items I can leave off of my grocery list for a while. By the time I need them again I am hoping to find them for an even better deal!

My goal for September -
Dish detergent, shampoo, and conditioner. Prayfully I will be able to get these for a bargain!

If you want to see how I made this work check out my Walgreens, Publix, and Kmart posts.

Like I said, I still have to run to Walmart and CVS but I ended up getting most of my Walmart deals at Publix for just as good a deal.

Walmart, K-Mart & Publix

I am just getting to where I can add in Walmart, K-Mart and Publix into my deal weeks. I wanted to add Winn-Dixie but I haven't really come across any amazing deals.

Please bear (is it bear or bare?) with me as I pick up these bigger stores. It will be slow going but I have to start somewhere!

Walmart -

  • Yoplait Kids (Dora) yogurt cups are 2 for $5. Use 2 $1.50 off coupons from a recent Sunday paper, and a printable found here for $1 off 2 to make these only $.50 each.
  • Use the coupons from Walmart's All You magazine to get a ton of stuff free. There are buy 3 Kraft products get one free coupons that are awesome. Kool-aid is a Kraft product. I will buy 12 packets of Kool-aid and use 4 coupons to get the following free:
**1 12 oz package of Kraft Cheese Singles
**1 package of Oscar Meyer hot dogs
    **1 box of Wheat Thins
**1 16oz bottle of Kraft Dressing
This is a really terrific deal! I am also going to pick up another All You magazine to do it all again!
  • Blueberry Miniwheats are $2something. There is a printable here for $1 off and then the Walmart All You magazine has another $1 off 1 coupon. To make this deal even better go here to read about Kellogg's free after rebate on this cereal! The actual rebate is on the box. Use one coupon on each box, then submit your rebate for one of the boxes, and get both for free or really cheap in the end!

Publix:

  • Use one of those buy 3 Kraft coupons and get a Crystal Light can free! Now, here is why you should do this at Publix and not Walmart this week. Crystal Light has a buy 1 get 1 free deal. You can either get 2 Crystal Lights or one Crystal Light and one Kraft Live Active Product for free on this combo deal! Be quick - this deal ends either today or tomorrow, I think!
  • General Mills cereals are $1.99 each. There are quite a few printable General Mills cereal coupons here that could score you a nice cereal deal.

K-Mart

  • X-TRA laundry detergent is on sale 5 for $5.
  • Bic 10ct mechanical pencils are $1 each. Use some of those $1 off 2 coupons here and from a recent Sunday paper to get them for $.50 each or free!

Remember, usually K-Mart won't let you use more coupons than you have items. Make sure you count the coupons in your hand and the items in your cart so they match up. We won't have a problem with all the detergent we are going to buy.

So, there you have my first big store deal run-down. I know it isn't much so please comment if you have a cool deal I can add to this list.
